From Air-kitchen to fine dining at your home

About this project

I was hired as a designer to create an immersive, high-end digital culinary experience for Uqonic Chefs, a venture initiated by Gategroup Zurich during the pandemic.

The aim was to pivot their business by leveraging their culinary expertise in a new, innovative way. This project required designing a seamless user experience for a platform that connects consumers with Michelin-star chefs, allowing them to recreate gourmet dining experiences at home.

challenge

challenge

Gategroup faced significant challenges due to the pandemic, with the suspension of flight operations necessitating a shift in their business model. Internally, the team needed to adapt quickly to the fast-paced development environment. Externally, they had to ensure a premium digital experience that matched the high standards of their brand and clientele, while managing the logistical complexities of a global operation.

process

The design process involved close collaboration with developers from MOVE agency, content managers, copywriters, art directors, and the marketing team. We adopted a lean and agile methodology to swiftly address evolving requirements and integrate feedback. This included developing a prototype in React, optimizing content management with Contentful, and ensuring seamless transaction processing with Commerce tools and Adyen. Continuous learning and iterative validation were key components of our approach, enabling us to refine the platform in real-time.
